Absence of Two-Dimensional Bragg Glasses
The stability to dislocations of the elastic phase, or “Bragg glass,” of a randomly pinned elastic medium in two dimensions is studied using the minimum-cost-flow algorithm for a disordered fully packed loop model. The elastic phase is found to be unstable to dislocations due to the quenched disorder. The energetics of dislocations are discussed within the framework of renormalization group pre...
متن کاملNature of ground state incongruence in two-dimensional spin glasses
We rigorously rule out the appearance of multiple domain walls between ground states in 2D Edwards-Anderson Ising spin glasses (with periodic boundary conditions and, e.g., Gaussian couplings). This supports the conjecture that there is only a single pair of ground states in these models.
متن کاملReduction of two-dimensional dilute Ising spin glasses
The recently proposed reduction method is applied to the Edwards-Anderson model on bond-diluted square lattices. In combination with a graph-theoretical matching algorithm, this allows us to calculate numerically exact ground states of large systems. Low-temperature domain-wall excitations are studied to determine the stiffness exponent y2. A value of y2=−0.281 3 is found, consistent with previ...
متن کاملExact Ground States of Two-Dimensional J Ising Spin Glasses
In this paper we study the problem of nding an exact ground state of a two-dimensional J Ising spin glass on a square lattice with nearest neighbor interactions and periodic boundary conditions when there is a concentration p of negative bonds, with p ranging between 0:1 and 0:9. With our exact algorithm we can determine ground states of grids of sizes up to 50 50 in a moderate amount of comput...
متن کاملChaos and universality in two-dimensional Ising spin glasses
Recently extended precise numerical methods and droplet scaling arguments allow for a coherent picture of the glassy states of two-dimensional Ising spin glasses to be assembled. The length scale at which entropy becomes important and produces “chaos”, the extreme sensitivity of the state to temperature, is found to depend on the type of randomness. For the ±J model this length scale dominates ...
